Hi, I’m Melody, the maker and designer behind Soften Studio.

I’ve always loved working with my hands. I grew up watching my Nanna sew, embroider and create beautiful things, and that early inspiration led me to find the same joy in making. Later on I studied both fashion and graphic design, which shaped the way I think about clothing, simplicity and good design.

The name Soften comes from my love of natural fibres and how they wear, feel and soften over time.

Through Soften Studio I share sewing patterns, tutorials and conversations with other makers on Soften Stories about their creative journeys. The designs I create are a personal reflection of what I love wearing and I hope they become pieces you reach for often and feel at home in.

We have just relocated back to Brisbane where I live with my partner Chris and our daughter Joan and run Soften Studio from my home studio ♡
